Boroughmuir Thistle 0-5 Kilmarnock Ladies

Boroughmuir Thistle 0-5 Kilmarnock Ladies

Kilmarnock got off to the best possible start with Clare Docherty putting pressure on the Boroughmuir keeper and forcing her into a mistake then profited by slotting home in the opening minute of the game. An excellent start and Killie never let the home side into the game for the next 10/15 minutes with constant pressure, but were unable to add to the scoreline. Then midway through the half, a Kirsty Munro strike through a ruck of players ended up in the back of the net. 2-0 Kilmarnock. Just on the stroke of halftime Clare Docherty, who had been a constant thorn in the thistle defence, scored her second of the game to give the visitors a comfortable HT 3-0 lead.

The second half was much the same with Kilmarnock on the front foot and playing the majority of the game in the opposition half. After a series of corners whipped in by Chloe Ponton, Kirsten Rolph got on the end of one and headed strongly past the keeper to make it 4-0 to the visitors. Substitutions came in the form of Taylor and Sanchez being replaced by Telford and Lyttle then Mailley, Higgins and McCluskey came on for Murphy, Munro and Ponton. With all these changes Kilmarnock carried on delivering the same levels of passing, pressing and dominance of the match. They were rewarded in the final minute with Nicole Telford getting on the end of a Laura Lyttle pass and she slotted past the Boroughmuir keeper to end the game 5-0 Kilmarnock.

Coach Stewart Hall was pleased with the attitude and a good team performance today with the team getting back to winning ways and sets us up for next weekend's Scottish cup tie at home to SPL1 team Hamilton Accies.
