Senior Ladies Match Report

Hibs Development 4 v 1 Kilmarnock

The young Hibs side came out all guns blazing in this League Cup tie - giving Kilmarnock a torrid first 15 minutes in which they scored twice.

The first from a free kick conceded 20 yards out. Hibs took full advantage as their midfielder stepped up to strike the ball high into the net.

The home side doubled their lead minutes later. The impressive number 10 cutting in from the left flank before slotting the ball home.

The third goal came with 30 minutes played. From a corner kick, Kilmarnock failed to clear their lines and the ball dropped at the feet of the Hibs striker, who finished well.

But Killie rallied and started to regroup to force Hibs back. They got their just reward with Docherty getting on the scoresheet after a neat passing move and a clinical finish.

Killie's hopes of a comeback were dashed minutes before halftime when Hibs cashed in with their fourth of the game, again from a set piece.

HT: Hibs 4 - 1 Killie

Kilmarnock changed their formation for the second period, going to a 3-5-2 and produced a better performance in an unfamiliar shape.

Full credit to the girls for a battling through a difficult game against their opponents, who were a very well drilled outfit and will have a say in the South First Division title.

The season ahead is going to be difficult one for Kilmarnock, with a step up in class against the big guns of women football's development sides. They are all full of young quality international players this can only be good for the women's game here in Scotland.
